Please see below posters from CSL at Shrewsbury Road Community Centre with information about their Christmas Activities.

Nottinghamshire Youth Commission

We are currently recruiting young people to join the Nottinghamshire Youth Commission on Police and Crime – an exciting initiative in partnership with the Police and Crime Commissioner, Paddy Tipping.

The Nottinghamshire Youth Commission allows young people to support, challenge and inform the work of the Police & Crime Commissioner and Nottinghamshire. The Youth Commission will explore urgent issues affecting young people in Nottinghamshire, such as reducing offending and re-offending, improving the relationship with the police, and anti-social behaviour.

The Youth Commission is aimed at young people aged 14-25 years who want to make a difference to their community.  We’re looking for a diverse group of young people from different backgrounds and life experiences to take part, including those who have direct experience of the criminal justice system.

This is brilliant opportunity for young people to gain new knowledge, skills and experiences. Members of the Youth Commission will play an important role in helping to run consultation events and gather the opinions of other young people about police and crime.

All documents needed to apply for this opportunity are attached below;

“Bassetlaw Youth Council is a great opportunity to meet new friends and get your voice heard. You don’t have to have knowledge of politics; you just have to be passionate about your area and the issues that affect you, from anything such as public transport to apprenticeships. If you don’t speak up, you won’t get heard”

Cllr Sarah Farncombe

The annual event was another huge success for the charity. It was held on the 23rd March 2016 in the North Notts Community Arena. Involved in the show were over 200 young people from 14 different organisations.

Those involved made from the drawing board or customised charity shop garments.  Also shown down the cat walk were masks, decorated capes, printed T shirts and lots more . An appreciated audience of over 400 thoroughly enjoyed the event and funds raised through ticket sales will go to supporting the grant giving trust of the charity.

The 2016 Fun Run took place on Sunday 8th  May. The weather was a little to warm for both runners and walkers, the first person over the line was Steve Maddock in 37.50 minutes. The event was supported by 270 participants. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the morning covering the distance of 10k (6 miles) through the magnificent Welbeck Estate. Some young people raised funds for their clubs through sponsorship and the charity gained much needed funds for the grant giving trust. This year the event was kindly sponsored by the Rotary Club of Worksop and the Worksop Dukeries Rotary Club. Support to the event was also given by staff from A1 Housing Services who helped with registration and the Worksop Army Cadets who took care of the comfort points on route. Everyone finished received a medal and trophies were given to the winner and runner up Junior and Senior Boy and Girl.

It is hoped that the Fun Run/Walk will take place again in 2017, a date will be confirmed in the New Year.
